Two medals at Royal World Cup
Fighter Muay Thai brought two medals back home from Royal World Cup which took place in Bangkok Thailand last week.
Fighter Muay Thai had three fighters participating in the tournament.
Elina Nilsson competed in -71 kg. She faced Turkey in the first fight and won by RSC in the second round. In the next fight she fought Australia. It was a tough semifinal where Australia was the stronger one and won by points. The tournament ended in a bronze medal for Elina who has been a member of the Swedish National Team in six years and she has been among the four best in the world during this period of time.
Evelina Wikner competed in the -57 kg division. Evelina fought and defeated Canada in the first fight. In the second fight she defeated New Zealand by points. In the final Evelina took on France who was very strong and won by points in the end. A silver medal for Evelina in her first big international tournament.
Fredrik Björnander represented Sweden in the -67 kg division. Fredrik unfortunately suffered from stomach disease when the tournament started. He entered the ring for the first fight but after the first blows to the body he couldn’t complete the first round.
Coaches following the fighters to Bangkok was August Wallén (chief instructor Shooters MMA Fight Team and Fighter Muay Thai), Jens Fredholm (headtrainer in Fighter Muay Thai’s competition group) and Johan Storm (fighter and instructor Fighter Muay Thai).
